    Detail Callout Modifications

I have been tasked with the inevitable detail callout with no section cut or callout bubble. We are currently using a section cut referencing the detail we want to reference then shortening the section line to microscopic sizes. This causes problems with selection of the view reference.

I have tried modifying the section cut and callout bubble to no avail.
I have tried nesting in a detail component, it's not possible.
View references are the natural method this should work. However view references will only work in dependant views.

    Any ideas?

So you have the view but you don't want to show the bubble callout or the whole outline/boundary or section line and bubble?

Yes, that is what he wants. So you can throw down a detail reference at the end of a note or line of text, etc.

We are looking for better ways to do this also.

There is a OK combination of workarounds that I have used as separate workflows that you could piece together

        1. Make your view head to only include some sort of symbol made out of invisible lines
        2. Change your object styles for the section line category under annotations to a very light lineweight a color of white and a very long dot linetype that means you will get a white dot close to never

I actually use step 2 on a lot of projects to eliminate having to break the section mark, I then just build in a small line to the head and tail

Correct back in the day of non live detail referencing you could just plop a detail bubble anywhere and not have to use a callout box or section cut line. Like within notes, or details. With Revit this is not possiable. The ability to put a detail bubble or even just a line of text would be a very valuable addition. I think its on the wishlist tbh.

I will try the modified section line.

Why not just use the View Reference piece of text thats in the View Ribbon?

EDIT: nevermind, because Aaron is an idiot and that ONLY works for dependant views. How dumb.

                Excellent solution

I took the while line idea to the next level.

Place the callout on your sheet, move the detail buble within your callout.

then override the graphics and set it to white. poof

                  Be forewarned-

WHITE isnt invisible. If someone tells colors to plot black, or exports it to CAD or DWF, the lines are going to be there.
