This is elementary. Most of you will laugh...
If you want to paint surfaces what do you do? Use the paint tool (modify tab) and assign paint as a material to surfaces. Then you go to manage tool and in materials menu you configure the paint. (color, matt or glossy etc). But then you have only one paint. All the surfaces that have the material "paint" are the same color. It is obvious I'm missing something here..
