Core Boundaries and Wall Closure ?

Here´s one that have been bothering me for years...

How do you guys deal with wall closures when you want the Core Boundary to close as shown in the attached ?

So far I´ve been setting the insulation/thermal layer as the Core Boundary, but that means "deleting" the Function of other layers in the interior walls that needs to clean up with my exterior walls... or the interior walls core will clean up to the insulation layer in the external wall...

Am thinking that maybe I should just create the Closure as a nested 3D sweep in the window and door families, but would love to know what others are doing (If I´m not the only one with this problem - Guessing that it´s regional)

I have a nested shared generic family in the window(extrusion with opening gap so it can be adjustable as depth and width) that receive an material instance parameter(or type if you want)and then join to the wall. The only big problem is that the projection model pattern exposed of these generic model can't be aligned with the same pattern from the core.

In Switzerland, (Germany, Austria?) simmilar Problems are solved by inserting 2D Elements (Masked/filled regions) into the floor plan view of the Window Family. This way correcting the graphic representation of the window in the floor plan. This works in most cases but also creates new problems in certain cases.

If you want control over the warp returns (if this is what you mean) build into your door and windows families a Ref. Plane with the wall closure box checked. Add to this Ref. Plane a parameter to control the offset of the closure return distance.
Obviously have wraps at openings checked in wall layer properties.

The issue is that layers within the Core Boundary can´t "Wrap" :banghead:

And why the (/&#=& not BTW ?

OK now I understand. Never had to return the core boundry wall , always only the external (brick) which is always out side the boundry.
Definate workaround needed for you guy's. :coffee:

There was a long thread on the AUGI forum a few years ago (which I can't find so far) which discussed this and CADclips also did a video on it and came to the conclusion that the logic of wrapping is not entirely predictable (this we know )

In the UK the inner leaf returns to the outer but mostly I have given up trying to return inner to outer - on standard cavity walls there will be an insulated cavity closer anyway and on thicker walls I just use the cut profile tool to correct the display once I'm doing the construction detailing.
