    Plumbing Piping Insulation

Is there a way to add insulation to plumbing piping in Revit 2013? All instances for adding insulation are grayed out? Any suggestions?

Hi TeeterRevit, You must choose the pipe by clicking on it, then the tool is active, after activating the ADD INSULATION tool you should choose the insulation thickness, hope this helps, regards.

You might have no insulation types defined... especially if you upgraded the project from 2012. I had something similar happen.
If there is nothing in the project browser under Families->Insulation then find a project or template that does have it and copy paste into your project.

After changing views to a working plan view the add insulation tab was highlighted and I added my thickness. Is there a way to preset a insulation thickness to all pipes that will be drawn? OR do you have to add as after piping as been drawn?

Hey Guys well i think that in walls where water system accessories are to be placed, insulating material must be set up first. When water system in external surfaces, set up the insulating material behind the pipe joints, between the pipe joints and the external. Thanks!
