    The splash screen

I confess my long time hatred for Revit's splash screen. Is it possible to turn it off? I mean, if I can't use the program yet, anyway, please do not occupy my screen, and let me do other stuff in the mean time. Here I am, trying to type this post in the little space that the splash screen leaves on the top of my computer screen. At least make it smaller, or something I can move to a corner, or minimize, whatever...

I can expand any program over Revit when it is loading and it will stay that way. Even after it's loaded.
Now, with Acad I couldn't. It kept popping up over any other program as it was loading. But, I haven't had that issue with Revit. I'm just saying........

Minimize, then maximize the screen you want to work on and it will send the splash screen to the back.

The issue has become more notorious for me during the last weeks, because I have been switching between RAC2011 and RAC2012 during the day, to work on two different activities. Oh, well, since I don't have neither a super fast computer, nor a super large screen, nor a dual monitor setup, I guess I will have to live with the splash screens, be patient, get some good Colombian :coffee: in the meantime, and enjoy the sightseeing of the mountains and the bamboo trees here in the charming Armenia.

Why do I need to look at some annoying splash screens when I can see something like this from my window?

I like the fact that in Autocad 2012 they added a line at the bottom of the splash screen to tell you what the program is doing while your sitting there waiting for something to happen.

You should be able to add /nosplash to the end of the target of any program that you do not wish to display the splash screen for. The target can be found by right-clicking the icon and going to it's properties. After the quotes you will add the /nosplash string so that for Revit 2011, for instance, it would look like the following. I have been doing this with many programs for a long time as the splash screen is kind of a useless pop up when starting a program.

              "C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Revit Architecture 2011\Program\Revit.exe" /nosplash

                Dude, excellent! :bb:

For Win7 users that have the icon attached to the taskbar: remove from taskbar, add the /nosplash while the icon is placed on the desktop, rightclick on the icon and Add to Taskbar...

Thank you ever so much.

Something worth noting (albeit obvious) - don't go forwarding the "fix" to your users if they have no access to write the changes. That's me sorted for the next hour.

EDIT Okay it works with RAC2009-2011, but these don't :
                  AutoCAD 2010
                  AutoCAD LT 2010
                  Navisworks Freedom 2010
                  Design Review 2011

Which is kind of annoying. Still, easy come, easy go.
