    IDE for Revit Add-in?

    Is there an IDE for developing Revit Add-ins?

    Do I need to download/install something?

    IDE? As in API? Yes, there's an SDK developer's toolkitthingymajig that comes with the install... I'm not the best person to answer such a question, but you've asked in the right place (here anyway).

      IDE = Integrated Development Environment

      More specifically to allow drag-n-drop of tools for form creation (like text boxes, buttons etc).

        Ok. I've found part of the issue. I clicked on Manage>Macros>Macro Manager and created a module. I thought THAT was the process. I just found that there's a Macro API (for creating MACROS) and a standard Revit API.

          You have 2 entry points for the API: Macros, which you already found out, and simple DLL's.
          For the last, create them using a compiler, and load them using manifest files (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/libr...v=vs.90).aspx).
          For both, you have the option of command or application based tools.
          Lots of info on this on the wikihelp site.
