    Explain String

    Hi

I am in the process of creating a pipe fitting family.

Can you please explain the strings =text_file_lookup(Lookup Table Name, "FittingOD", 0', NomDia)
    would be glad if answered.

    Regards
    Maheswari

I assume you're seeing that in the type properties of the pipe fitting family. The lookup table replaces a formula in these instances. There should also be another entry giving the Lookup Table name (It will have a .csv file extension). Revit uses these to give a value to the parameter directly from that table. If you look at a spec sheet for a pipe fitting, you will see a 2D representation of the fitting with dimensions that are variables (A, B, C, etc.) There will also be a table with numbers correlating to these variables giving the size of fitting for each pipe diameter, these are the numbers that are used for the lookup table.

Hi thank you for the reply, I understand that standard components like pipe fitting refer the lookuptable for types. Was specifically asking why is is not = FittingOD,why is there a comma and then the NomDia. refer
=text_file_lookup(Lookup Table Name, "FittingOD", 0', NomDia)

I probably don't have enough in-depth knowledge to answer your question then. If you post the family it might make it easier for myself, or someone else, to help you.
