    custom steel shapes

    Hello,
I need to create a bent steel plate with a sloped top flange. any suggestions how to accomplish this? can I create a modeled object or is it possible to edit an existing "C" channel shape for this condition?

Can you explain in more detail, or provide an image? Do you want a steel plate modeled to followed to top flange of a beam?

I would think you can start with an OOTB beam family, and just change the profile to match your bent plate. This way you have all the constraints and parameters you need, and can just delete anything that's extraneous. Also, once modeled, it will behave the way you want it to.

Yes you are able to model that shape with a edidted OOTB framing member. Simple draw a profile that represents what you need and replace the profile in the OOTB family. Should be very simple.
