    Associating PROJECT parameters

    I have recently been wrestling with an idea that I believe to be impossible at this time, though I would love to be proved wrong.

    I have a faced based, 3D text family with a text input parameter. I would like to be able to associate this to a system family parameter e.g. wall mark.

    I am creating a 3D model for export to pdf and would like to be able to place the 3D text on a face and have it pick up a parameter in the system family.

    Am I dreaming?

    Currently all you can get out of a host is a dimension, and then: Only in a hosted family, with reporting parameters.

    I dont know if- At the API level- a face based piece of content is "Host aware" in terms of properties, but it might be worth looking in to. Wont happen with a normal family though.

      Tim, I don't think that is possible with a 3d model text. However, if the goal is to tag walls from a 3D view, you could do that in RAC2012 by locking the view and tagging the wall with regular wall tags. Would that work for what you need to do?

        Tag families are host aware so the capacity exists, though as you say maybe not for physical families.

        I have definitely thought of this (and am using 2012 to make what I need happen), though the view would get a little cluttered if one was attempting to tag 'every' brick in a wall (don't ask!!?!).
