    Walls connection problem, see inside for more info

    I made floor structure as it should be done in real, then i unlocked wall's finish layer and i dragged it down. but it made me a holes where wall ends. How should i correct it? should i drag down whole wall and reorganize floor? or are there any other options to fix this hole?

    Edit wall join to Miter instead of a Butt join. That should fix the problem :-)

      I would change the base offset to a negative value needed and then join the wall with the floor. This way it will automatically cut out the floor and you'll have the desired result without all of the hassle this method goes with.

        Wait, that works??? :banghead:

        I went through and created slab edge profiles that have a brick ledge in them. I have different size ledges so my slab sketch is split for each condition. What a pain in the arse.

        So how do you handle where your doors are? If you have a brick ledge with the wall layer offset, and the door is set on the finished floor, it will show brick underneath it.

          I think this would depend on the wall type you are using.

          If, for example you have a brick veneer wall it would be modeled exactly as shown as the timber frame sits on top of the floor and the brick cladding extends down to either the rebate in the slab or the strip footing depending on the footing type for the project.

          In this circumstance, you would not want to model the wall with a negative base offset as it will mess up the sections.

            Sorry Ian, I don't follow... Maybe it's a difference in building style but if modelled correctly (at least in Holland) the floor edge always alligns with a wall layer (in Holland typically the bearing brick/concrete layer). These sit on top of construction floor a or attach to the bottom of a floor. All other layers run to the bottom of the floor (insulation, air and finishing).
            So if you set the base offset to match the floor thickness and join both, it will needly clean up.

            There's one situation in which this doesn't work and that is if you would need the base offset of the finish layers needs to be more then the floor thickness. In this case you need to give the proper offset and after this attach the base of the wall. This will let the outside layers stick through and the construction layer attach to the top off the floor.

            Am I missing something in this model why this might not work?
