New to Revit - need so clarification

I am new to Revit. When I put a tub into the floor plan it did not appear in the 3d. I had also placed a sink from the same file into the floor plan and it appeared in the 3d.

I have been told that the tub was a 2d and the sink a 3d, but I am not sure how to determine whether the symbol was a 2d or a 3d.

    Thanks.

When you load the family Check the name of the component you loaded . Revit has two families ootb for sinks toilets and tubs 3d and 2d just pick the one you need in the plumbing fixtures folder

Well you kind of gave the answer: if the tub only shows up in plan view, but not in 3D, sections or other views you would expect it in, it's a 2d component.
To check, select the family in Plan View and click Edit Family in the Ribbon. This will open the family in the Family Editor.

Sorry for the lack of explanation, its just too hard to type on my phone...
You are right, however in the case of tubs, toilets and sinks, revit has a 2d and a 3d version within the regular families (HOME tab), which in my opinion makes it kind of confusing since one would expect the 2d version to be a detail component (ANNOTATION tab) and not a regular component.
You can also check to see which component it is (given that you didn't rename them) by clicking on it and checking its name in the properties window. it should say for example Tub_Rectangular_2D or Toilet_Domestic_3D <Mind you this is for out of the box content>
