    Detail Formatting

    Hey all,

Our firm is finally making more progress into the transition to Revit. I am in charge of basically keep the transition from ACA to Revit as simple as possible. The issue I am having today is formatting a detail (or callout) to fit in an a "boundry".

For example, each of our CAD details templates have a no plot boundary around them to keep them fitting comfortably on a sheet. This template includes the text for naming the detail and showing its file location. Then on our sheets we have defpoint nodes which allow us to snap our details so they are always in the same place. My issue is in Revit when a detail is created, then placed on a sheet, the title has to manually be moved and each detail has to be adjusted to fit in the assigned detail spot.

If anyone has any info or needs me to clarify on anything to make this question easier let me know!!

    Thanks

I'm not 100% clear on what you need but I think this will help: http://www.revitforum.org/tutorials-...-revealed.html

We have a "Detail Sheet" Titleblock that has detail box lines to help with alignment with another Detail Box (Annotation Symbol) for the drafting view. This helps align the drafting view on the sheet and the View Title has a little cross to help align with the sheet. It's not the greatest, but it gets the job done. Once everything is placed we change the sheet to a Plan Sheet that doesn't show the detail box lines. The Detail Boxes can be changed to not show their lines either.

We also have drafting views at every scale that have reference planes in them, that represent the size of the detail boxes... Just like we did in ACA.

Sure, you still have to adjust the titles and vports individually on the sheet. But it's cake when they all have the same lines in them.

Awesome thanks for the response, especially Alex C. (and sorry for the delay in responding myself).

Just for reference, I went ahead and made a symbol of the detail boxes (which I think I will be tweaking as I go on) and made gave it a visibility parameter. I also made a referencing guide in our title block (type parameter) that helps organize them on sheets, although I did like the idea of having a detail sheet family that could be used also.

There is no need to drag the title lines!!! If you build View Title Families with fixed widths...

I don't use them presently but at a prior firm we used the following kind of fixed titles, making the view-on-sheet-nomenclature brilliantly streamlined.

There are "Single", "Double", "Triple", etc... Never drag a title line again ;-) -See Image-

I didn't say drag title lines, I said adjust titles. Referencing the OP's comments that you can drag the viewport separately from the title, so you have to move both separately in to the right spot.

                    We have fixed widths here.
