When placing rebar you can open the bar bend browser and it has all of the bars in the project listed with a picture.... where can I find these image files? Right now I am using prtscn so I can use these pictures from my family browser...anyone have any ideas where these might be?

I've looked after to make legend views, with no luck. I guess that, knowing that each rfa file is a container for smaller files, and that one of those file is named RevitPreview, the pictures should be there.
I've tried to change the extension of this file, but it's not a valid picture format.Julien

For the standard shapes of the rebars you can see ACI 315-99 that has the same shapes and nomenclature that revit uses. However, if you sketch a new rebar in revit structure, then you do not have that in ACI and I myself have the same problem that have not found any solution for that yet.

These "images" are derived from the shape family. They are actually live graphics. You can see this by changing the size of the Rebar Shape Browser. While the images are useful for shape selection we have heard that they would be useful in other instances. One question that seems to vary from locality to locality is what to show in the "images". Do you show the designed shape or the shape of the instance? Is the image to scale? Do you need the segment lengths dimensioned or just labeled (i.e. "A" or "B").?Erik Snell, P.E.

IMHO, I would need to do in Revit what ASD can do. Maybe it will be a European point of view.....
I would need the segment lengths dimensioned or labeled, but my choice.
In fact, I need rebar shapes as legend component in some cases, with lengths labeled, when working with 2d components.
And the Must Have is lengths dimensioned, just as in real world for shop drawings, when working with modeled rebars.
Even graphical schedules for columns is not perfect, it could be a way to work on what we want: graphical schedule for rebars, with host mark and lengths dimensioned.
But we also need classical schedules, thinking of exporting datas to deal with rebars manufacturers. They work with computers too, this could be a BIM way......Julien

Ali, We diverge from ACI shapes all the time...we start from the base shapes and then see what shape is closest to what we want and call it a 17A or a 01A etc. I don't need a picture that is dimensioned or labeld or anything, it takes 20 minutes to set up a legend for the first time and start using that, so it really isnt a big deal for us, thought I could see it being nice to show the dimensions in the Family Browser, but not a huge issue. Thought this did just give me an idea....for all those who want images with dimensions give me a week and I will upload a word doc with them many of them in it...
Julien, I think what your looking for is a little differnt, but would be cool. Most of the shops we have delt with just have the bends and a schedule. Nothing graphical at all. I think the way bars are done now a grapical could get a little confusing especailly since bar marks are manually assigned.

Hello, guys,
you need to assign shape images to rebar shapes. Guy from autodesk made a blogpost and he also attached rebar shape families according to BS8666:2005 below his post. If that's what you been looking for:
