Issue with rooms

    Issue with rooms

    Im trying to create a room in the red area (see attachment) called "Hal" but it sees the wall opening as the boundary so I cannot create ONE room...
    I have two walls (brick & air layer witrh plaster finish) cut with two wall openings.

    Am I missing something? because normally it recognizes perfectly....

    The wall opening family creates a hole in the wall that is not room bounding. You will need to either place a room bounding line, or create a custom family for the opening.

      Well it IS room bounding and should NOT be room bounding.
      Thats why I dont understand it...

        In the wall properties there is a checkbox for "room bounding". If you want the wall to be room bounding elsewhere, you will need to split the wall.

          edit - i'm apparently slow today. For some reason I had the whole thing backwards in my head. Give me a few to look at it.

          Do you have a room bounding line? That's the only thing I can think of at the moment, although I'm in a daze from trying to get a set out the door :hide:

            Even if you can't resolve the bounding concept, can you not place 2 separate Room objects with the same Room ID? The Schedule could be adjusted to show the total area of both under one name? Just a thought - We do this often.

              Yeah but that would mess up my model and should not be THE solution if you ask me.
              something is keeping revit from measuring through the wall... I have drawing where it beheves like it should but cannot find any difference...

              No I do not have a room bounding line would hit myself if that would be the thing

              Do you need to take a look at my model? I can send you a dropbox link....

                I can if you'd like. You can purge out / delete everything but that area if you want. Makes the file smaller

                    Split wall segment at opening borders and Remove "Room Bounding" to that wall above opening. Yes, manual. Oh, and don't ever use "Wall opening" tool, either use door based family or curtain wall with empty panel (i like using curtain walls for doors and windows at sketching phase for the ease and speed of use, must be only me).
