New Floor Plan - Can't Change VG

I have a linked architects model and a linked Steel model into my project. I've just finished the ground floor ventilation services.

I now want to work on level 0.5 so I have clicked view> plan views > floor plan > level 0.5.

I cannot change the visability of anything in this plan though.

I've typed vv which brings up the graphic box but everything is greyed out and cannot be changed.

I think this may be something to do with a view template but I'm unsure.

Has anyone got an idea what I should do?

If you have set up the Visibility Graphics in the view template, then you will not be able to adjust the VG in the individual view. If you do not want the settings of the view template to control the display, then you need to switch the view to not use the view template or create a new view template.

Yes I would like to switch the view back to not using the template. How do I do this?

In the properties panel for the view there will be a button for "View Template" under identity data. Clicking on the button will bring up view template selection window. Set the template to <None> to remove the template or you can duplicate the current template and uncheck or modify "View Range" in the view template properties list.

In previous versions of Revit (2012 and older), someone could make changes to the views independent of how a view template was setup. This also made things difficult because you had to manually apply the view template. When 2013 came out, they revised this, so that with whatever category was checked in the view template dialogue, then it was grayed out in the properties, VG or whatever else was affected. To change it, you had to change the view template. So you either change it (with permission from BIM Manager of course) or created a new one for personal use.

I took this a step further. Traditionally when you create a new view, you had one type option - floor plan or RCP. 2013 lets you create different floor or RCP types and assign view templates to them. So when you create a new view, select the type you want and bam, the view template is already assigned.
