    2012 Nice Features

Thought I would start a post on the nice, sometimes subtle and minor features.

There is and option now under Options / Graphics to have selected item be transparent.
Great when you want to have a quick view beyond without hiding etc..

Ghosting is a great feature and even better with shortcut keys assigned. One for "Ghost single element" and one for "Ghost Category" both these shortcuts work as a toggle.

Keyboard Shortcut UI now has a warning when duplicate shortcuts have been assigned.

Yes, a nice little feature. I wish there was some way to control the level of transparency (but I don't wish for it enough in the sense that they should spend ANY more time on it right now).

You can tone down the "selection" colour. Helps a bit.

So, guys, in your opinion, what was the emphasis this year in regards to improvements? In some previous years, they've always treated an area with more emphasis than others, for example, one year it was the ribbon, another year it was the conceptual massing environment. What would you say is that main area of improvement and development this year? (Obviously, it was not railings, stairs, and site tools, in spite of our wishes; that seems to be the same).

The ability to place adaptive components directly in the project environment is a great addition. Hopefully they'll figure out the issues and open AC's up to structural categories in the next release (is it too soon to start a wishlist?)

I would say, also, that one of the areas where there was a lot of work is in Tagging. Many of the limitations of tagging elements in previous versions seem to have been resolved. I have not tested anything yet; this is just my impression after reviewing the "What's new" articles.

Well according to our marketing-supplied powerpoint, its BIM Workflow, Collaboration & Performance, and enhanced Productivity.

Personally, my big ticket items are Parts & Assemblies (Construction), Worksharing Display (Productivity), Graphic Display options and Materials (Visualization), and Point Clouds (Renovation and retrofit, as well as energy modeling).

So far Alf "Visual Presentation" and "UI onscreen visual's"
Ambient Shadows in Hidden Line mode is a winner for me. I do a lot of museum fitout and this presents really well in concept phase.
Realistic with Lines, is a big improvement.
                    Parts etc.
and little things like the new blue nodes on dimensions etc, are all pleasing to use.
also the other items I have mentioned earlyer in this post.

So for me I would say this year "Visual Presentation"
