What is the best way to create a non-editable group of dimensions and gridlines? I want to dimension my grid and building extents in a repeatable unit (in cad I would create a grid xref) that I can copy from view to view in the same place. I have my grid on the "Shared Levels and Grids" workset, but how do I get my dimensions in there?

This is how we do it.
1. Layout a grid.
2. Make the grid elements a Model group.
3. Pin the model group.
4. In the grid model group create an attached detail group of dimensions & other detail items (north point, etc)
5. Select (per view) to show the attached detail group.
Done.
...and later, with new plan views, use the "propogate extents" tool to make sure all views look the same (in case you've been using 2D extents)
NB Yogesh has a good point about worksetting the grids - and I'd/we'd do that to if we used them more.

I'd use the worksets too.
Another possibility is using Design Options to place the Grids in. This way you also have an easy way to control visibility.Martijn de Riet
