Controlling width and length of array in line based families

    Hello all,
I am trying to model ceiling slats that can be placed on the ceiling work plane. I have created a line based family that is almost what I need - all I have to do to extend the number of slats is extend the line.
I created a nested family that was a sweep to represent one slat, and I did create an instance parameter that would make it so I could modify the vertical length of the slats (it was working fine). The problem was that when I created the array group, I lost the ability to parametrically control the vertical length of the slats. Is there a way that I can maintain the vertical length parameter in an arrayed group?
I attached a jpeg about the prob dimension and group itself.

    Thanks in advance! t

    Welcome to the forum Tweg.

Looks like you are almost there, and you just need to tie the instance parameter in the nested object, to the length parameter in the main family.
    See the attached.

      Good Morning!

Thank you for your prompt response. When I associated this perameter as you have shown, it does give me an instance parameter to increase the length of each slat. However, the length of the slat is tied to the length of the line family, which means that essentially, the assembly can only be a square. I wonder if I may have set something up wrong in shared parameters? Any pointers would be much appreciated. I have included an up to date version of the family.
      Thanks! t

Yah right... you´ll need a "ceiling width" instance parameter in the line based family, and tie the slat length parameters to that (and not to the length)
And to get finished family working with grips, you might also wanna add a ref. plane controlled by the "ceiling width" parameter.

Have a look at the attached... is that how you want it ?
