    Command Prompt for Revit Holy Smack!

    and on Aprils 1st no less ..... .. (for the record this is REAL )

    Thats right .. so you ask yourself who in the world gave this guy a compiler to create something as INSANE as a command prompt FOR REVIT .. and to that I say .. why would you ask yourself that .. that's just kinda odd ;-)! Try it out and let me know what you think. .. (REVIT 2011 . .. for NOW)



    SOO .. here ya GO .. a COMMAND PROMPT for REVIT .. more info to come but for the most part ..

    * download the file from the link above
    * extract anywhere - RIGHT CLICK the INSTALL.cmd file and select "Run As Administrator" (not cause I wanna write a virus to your workstation but because program files needs admin permissions), .. pfft whatever Microsoft .. forget you. ;-) anyhow ..
    * if all goes well .. you should see command prompt under external tools .. as shown :

    ENJOY!

    WTF??? Are you freaking insane? Get that acad rubbish out of here...

    Oh wait, this is nice, you can actually see all things done under the hood. I'm downloading this baby... Nice going! (Still, could you PLEASE rip out the part where you can actually type in commands? That's just stupid).

      .. removing the command portion .. then it wouldn't be a command prompt. =)

          i downloaded it but i see no file called "INSTALL.cmd" ?

              sweet, works well, the ability to edit shortcuts might be a good addition to future versions??

                Maybe it can automatically set the to black, change all of the object styles to add colors to linework, and throw a UCS icon in the corner? Oh, and then it can add in a layering functionality and disconnect all of the automatic parametric changes.

                For me, I tell every customer I see that Revit is different, and its a huge mistake to try and "make Revit into AutoCAD"...

                and still people insist on doing so. For me personally, no thank you to a Revit command line.

                At the same time, kudos to the developer, jsut for the fact that it shows that with a little programming experience, one can customize Revit. Even if IMO I don't agree with it.

                    I donno man, if this worked 'headless', as in it could be driven from outside of someone sitting at the keyboard interactively operating Revit, then I can frankly see all sorts of value one could get from it.

                    I too am all for Revit not going down the road of Autocad in some ways, but man, what I've seen people automate via AutoCAD simply due to the fact that you can pretty easily set it up to reliably automated externally...
