    dashed line density in families

I'm trying to create a line-based family that follows a dashed line (ie: shower curtains). The dashed line looks great in the family model, but when I load it into the project the dash spacing is way too far apart. And it's not because the scale is too small in the view since other line-types (such as dashed-ultrafine) has the linetype scale I wanted. But when I try to change the linetype in the family, there's no other options other than "hidden line (projection/cut)". What should I do?

    Thanks!

Firstly, could you upload the family so we can have a look?

Secondly, You can add 'Line Types' to your family through 'Object Styles'. Any that you add will then be available in 'Object Styles' in the project, classified under the Family Type, and can then be controlled at a project level.

Be aware that if you have multiple families of the same category, with the same named Line type they will all be adjustable through Object Styles.

Ok, so I created a new object style, but I can't specify a linetype with a finer grain than what I already have. All I can do is select one of several existing linetypes...

Firstly, setting up the Object style (Sub-category) in the family, gives you visibility control at a project level.

Your line thickness is defined by line weights in the project.
Line patterns can be created/modified Modify>Settings>Additional Settings>Line Patterns

In your project, open 'Object Styles' and the Sub-category you created in your family will be available under the category the family is set to. Assign colour/weight/pattern to change the appearance.
