[Revit Architecture] - Schedule room area and glass area in one schedule

    Applies to: - Revit Architecture

    New Feature / Problem:
For regulation check on available light and ventilation for a habitable room, we are required to provide a light and ventilation schedule for each habitable room of a building.

Currently all of the information required to calculate this is available within Revit but is unable to be combined the information in one schedule.

Why do you need this Feature / Why is it a Problem:
Manual calculation of data via excel or as text has no relationship to the model itself, is prone to errors and takes a substantial amount of time to co-ordinate.

    Workflow:
Create a separate light and ventilation schedule using formulas to calculate compliance with building code or include light and ventilation within window shedules.

    Benefits:
Consistent check on compliance using parameters of the model itself. Save many hours for every project.

    Attachment comments:
Factory, all of the info is there! Let all of the intelligent information contained within the model be available to schedule in all schedules.

Well, it's not that super secret, but I have put 200+ hours in making the whole freaking thing work. I am working to write a plugin for Revit for the Dutch market (only one tiny little thing standing in my way: I don't really know the API that well yet...LOL)
And I know that there is someone from the biggest Dutch Revit reseller around here somewhere so I'm kind of careful with that since I'm meeting with them to show off my work in about two weeks... (sorry Sander)

Again, not super secret, but a lot of work with a lot of steps. And some minor secrets... But, I am working on your PM so hold your horses, it's coming.

I am waiting with some anticipation!!!

I have spoken to a LOT of folk about this over a number of years and thus far, all have said that it can't be done without an API.

GuyR, a very talented kiwi api writer wrote an api for such a function for the 2009 release if my memory serves me well. Despite my begging, he has been too busy to rewrite it for the new API structure. See http://www.redbolts.com/blog/post/20...-Families.aspx for info.

Using the from room / to room functions, I can almost get it to work where the calculation is based on the overall window size rather than the glass area, but it always fell down on being able to get glazed doors into the schedule.

Can't wait to see how you have done it.

            Cheers,

Well, you need to wait some more, sorry. I have been finishing up with some projects and it's 3am so I'm going to sleep. I'll be typing for you some more tomorrow evening...

And indeed, the doors took some cheating...

This is very important for most users, including me... However, the answer, is NO, it can't be done with Revit... maybe with the revit plugin you 're talking about, but not with Revit... so it stays as a wishlist item and a really important one.

Btw.. we have the same boss! (Me...)
Revit Architecture - 3ds MAX Design - Octane Render - and many working hours...

Well, Martijn is a VERY clever chap.

I am happy to suspend my doubts and will be the first to pay homage (and rep points) to him if he has succeeded where all others have failed.

There was a long thread on AUGI eight or nine months ago where a schedule got to be about 90% of the way there, but there was still one element which remained a manual input. It looks like Martijn may have found the key to that gate.

BTW, if anyone at the factory is watching this thread, it is absurd that we need to go to such lengths to schedule data which we know is in the model!!!! Is there some sort of internecine warfare going on between different bits of the data here. Why is this SO hard!
