    Add parameters to Revision Clouds

    Hello!

Is it possible to add parameters to Revision Clouds that I can write text into? Right now I have only "Comments" and "Mark".

    Best regards Engineer

I don't believe that it is possible with OOTB Revit. You can add parameters to revision cloud tags though

Did you guys get this to work because I can't?

    Add Label... check
    Add parameter... Check
    Add text... CHeck
    Associate Parameter to Label... CHEck
    Load into project... CHECk
    Select Tag... CHECK
    Look for parameter... FAIL

Tried instance, shared, text, multiline text... None are accessible that I can tell in the Project.

Am I missing something easy? Or is it only type based...

It sounds like you're in Dynamo territory, friend. I recently wrote a script that creates Revision Narrative documents. It takes the Comments field for each cloud, sorts it by Sheet, creates a numbered list for each Sheet and and then spits out a Narrative document in TXT format. It got a lot more complicated than I thought it would be but it works! It's really nice because you can just write the descriptive text into the Comments parameter for the Cloud as you create it. Then you run the DYN, paste the raw text into your company's standard Revision Narrative document and you're done.

Necro99, that is so cool! This is something I had been playing around with for our office as well. I had been trying to figure out a way to get the Dynamo output into a format that was ready to print by itself, and the whole thing was definitely more complicated than I expected!

I'm curious, in your office do you put revision clouds on sheets or in details? I'd always done the latter but IIRC the consensus on the forum seemed to be it was preferable to cloud sheets, since this was the most consistent method.

Anyways, now you've inspired me to dig up that old DYN file...

Here's mine if you want to take a look at it:

*** Link Deleted, sorry! Guess you had to be there. ***

This will work wherever the clouds are placed, Sheet, Detail View, Plan View, doesn't matter. This is what made it so tricky! That whole grey section in the middle was added to get that to work.

The only caveat is that if you're using Dependent Views to break up a large plan, you'll want to put the clouds on the Sheet View in order for the DYN to sort it into the right Sheet sub-list. Dependent Views don't "know" what Sheet they appear on so there's no data for the DYN to grab and sort the Cloud by. You can put the Clouds in the Dependent Views, but the Revision document will have a separate sub-list for that Dependent View, treating it as a separate Sheet. Of course it's not hard to just cut-paste that text to where you want it to go.

This will only work on the CURRENT Revision. It will exclude every cloud that's part of a previous revision. You can override this by using the green node near the beginning of the graph. Just read the description text.

Oh, and you'll need the Clockwork package to get it to run.

The TXT file will be dumped to the same location as your Central File. I'm not sure what will happen if you run this in something other than a local workshared file... Enjoy!
