Exclamation Pipe and Duct fittings are all Undefined with no system

Hi All, I need your help for once!

This morning all the new fittings in a project, for both pipes and ducts, stopped picking up the system of the pipes they are attached to.
(Existing fittings still have the correct systemn type).
Any new piping runs that are drawn have the correct system type for the pipe but all the fittings are grey and Undefined. So each section of pipe is created as a separate system.
This has globally affected all fittings, in both ducts and pipes, for all newly created systems.
Everyone claims they didnt do any thing different... and I cant trace what is causing the problem.
    Anyone had this issue before?

Also getting very strange behavior when selecting a pipe and associated system..

Have tried audit, transfering project standards from a backup where this does work etc...
    Using R2015 and Revit server.
Not sure what else to try except going back to the backup from yesterday

Hmm, didnt manage to fix this. Solved it by restoring backup. We didnt lose too much.
Would be good to know the cause or solution if anyone runs into this in the future.

Did you try restoring incrementally to find out when the change occurred. Than by looking at the history, you can tell who synchronized at that time. At least would be a start. I have never seen just the fittings losing their system definition and becoming undefined. Do those undefined systems still have a connector?

I have had this issue in a model before, but I'm afraid I can't recall how we resolved the problem as it was a while back....

I came across this exact problem today. Seems like the model is broken somehow - 2015 version.

I tried copy / pasting from a good project, even transferring all Project Standards. Any new Duct or Pipe Fitting is undefined and cannot be set to a System Type or Classification. Existing fittings are still 'ok' as in they still have the appropriate type and classification.

hmm. I had this problem again recently. I'm pretty sure the issue was the connector I was trying to connect to had a different classification than the pipe I was drawing (using "create similar"). It initially drew fine, but whenever I modified the pipe run the fittings reverted back to the connector/ undefined settings. I've never had this problem with ducts, maybe because there aren't as many system types.

Ok, if I group a few pipes and fittings and save the group to a new file, the effect is 'reversed' - the Pipes are undefined but the Fitting is ok. But... in this new file, I can play around with connecting / disconnecting a few times until it seems to work.

So the question may be... what project-wide 'settings' can cause connectors to fail or reverse or something like that? Or some conflict in system type definitions?

Ok, I know I'm talking to myself a bit on this one But...
That model is doing my head in. I have basically tried everything. The only thing that kind of works is linking that model into another empty model and then ‘binding’ it. Unfortunately, you then lose all of your documentation and you would have to rebuild it by copy / pasting from the old broken model.

I also tried deleting all warning elements, and I think that did improve things. So I'm just wondering if the systems are in a dirty state due to too many connections or insufficient flow information etc.
