    Revit MEP 2016 Fabrication Parts

Has anyone out there tried the new Fabrication in Revit 2016 yet?

itís basically the old CADDuct interface & way of working in the Revit environment I donít have the time to go through all the negatives this brings up but would like to know if anyone can see any positives with this tool as I canít see any!

So glad im not the only one that thinks this is a bad idea I cant understand why they are adding the slower un-useful functionality when whats there in revit is light years ahead

'I feel like a few years ago I was one of the first to start openly vocally demanding a Revit fabrication solution. I wanted all the features of Revit, but I wanted fabrication quality content because it wasn't there in Revit.'

If you want Fabrication content then just make it its not very difficult I have created familys for Xpress copper & stainless the welded is almost spot already so our revit model is used to create manufacturing drawings for prefabricated service modules & plantrooms they have ID codes so you can do takeoffs that go straight into the ordering software & all works just using Revit MEP 2014

Great write-up TFuller. One question.... so there is a "Revit MEP Fabrication" that is out, or coming out? And this is independent of SysQue, correct?

Thanks for clarifying TFuller. I do not use any CADmep package so it doesn't apply to me. But, great info to know for all our mechanical sub-contractors. I work at a General Contractor so we lead the charge in this area and I like getting my sub's the best and most quality info on Revit products.

    Thanks again!!

    Hello Everyone,

We just posted a video explaining what an ITM in Revit is and how it compares to a Revit Family.

I know it's a long video, but it's something that all Revit users should take the time to watch and understand the implications of this new content type.

We've been looking for a solution for adding hangers to our conduit/pipe. We've been looking at Sysque Support but it is pricey and we're not quite sure what families the individual module comes with. When I saw that Revit 2016 had fabrication parts, including hangers I got excited and downloaded it. After playing around with it and watching the Sysque video, I'm very disappointing. I'm still skeptical about the Sysque video because some parts remind me of infomercials with actors failing at simple tasks, but if half of that video is accurate I'm not using those parts. Looks like we're back to searching.
