    Flang family

    Hi all,

I am going to build a family for flangs. I have a couple questions to point me in the right direction.
Different sizes flangs have different numbers and sizes of holes. Number and size of holes are in parameters. This parameters I will use for my array to cut out the holes in the flang.

    The questions I have are:
1.) Is it possible to add a nested family with just a void?
2.) Can I use this nested family (void) to cut out holes in my flang?

Answers on those 2 questions will make me getting start.

    1. Yes
    2. I don't think so, AFAIK void families will cut in project only. Void needs to be made in same family, not nested. But it's late here and and not at Revit. Someone will say if I'm wrong.

    Thank you for your answer...

I got it clear that it is better to NOT use arrays and NOT use voids in family's. If possible avoid using those things to prevent problems with the model.

I got it worked around now

Actually I have a CHILD void family which I have to cut some parts on my furniture PARENT family, so yes! you can use a CHILD void family to cut some objects, by the way my void family is face based, HTH

You have a nested void family that cuts the geometry in the parent family? Maybe FB is the trick!

This is my void family (see images) which is intend to cut the PARENT family, so as already said is a FB family with some basic parameters for height and depth, that family was inserted in my Parent family to cut in specific places, so I'm pretty sure that it works like a champ!!
