    CAD Block Colour question

I have a CAD block inserted into a family. When I bring this family into a project and connect it to a system (Supply or extract) the CAD block takes on the colour of the system (blue for supply, green for extract) however is it possible to keep the original CAD block (white) colour instead of taking on the system colour?

Hi JPREng, usually is not recommended to use CAD objects inside Revit families, since those objects come with a lot of line types and trash you may not want in your project, it has been long discussed here, but if you don't have any other option you may try this:

Open your family >Go to Manage > Go to the Object styles dialog box, once then look for Imported objects > once then you"ll find the imported CAD layers

Then you can modify the colors of your imported object, usually the layers have the same names that in the cad file and you may able to modify colors.

A last thing, you probably do better if you re draw your detail as a native Revit detail family or a a native Revit lines, "Do not try to explode that CAD family it may be worst"

Hope this can give you some ideas, regards

Thanks for the reply. I have done the above, however when I connect to a duct system the family takes on the colour properties of the system, even though I have set the colour of the layer the Block is on to "White"

Ok I've opened your family and I've do this :

I've modified your arrow family by erasing your cad object and re drawing it as a native Revit object, and it works fine. (see image), it was the only thing I've do, so please consider to do the same. Since I have Revit 2018 and your family is in 2016 I guess is not worth enough to re upload that family, but if you want to have it just say me and I'll upload here for you

    hope this help
