Shared Parameter Names Changing once loaded into project

    I'm in Revit 2017.2

I have a shared parameter named Voltage_(company name)

I have been re associating my connectors with my Voltage shared parameter and everything looks fine in the family editor

When I load it into my project template and hit edit type, the parameter then shows as just "Voltage"

So in the family editor it is showing properly as Voltage_Name

This has not happened to me before

I'm I missing something here? any help is appreciated

Does revit now automatically rename all parameters that are under the same

Oddly enough...when I get (Company name) to the front it carries over correctly....

    so Voltage_Eng converts to Voltage

Eng_Voltage does not change....anyone else have this issue? I don't recall this being the case in 2014 when I last did a complete parameter rework like this

Are they brand new parameters or did you edit the text of the SP file?

I'm not sure how it was created I guess i should have made it clear that I did not literally create that parameter it has been with the company

does editing in the text file cause weird issues like this? I've never tried it

Do you not have a shared parameter file?

Yes it does, what cpercer said is most likely the issue. Creating new shared parameters is really the only way to update naming conventions although this will also lead to data loss. You might be able to use dynamo to export value then set new parameters.

If you edit the text file you usually only change the name, like appending it with your company initials. The problem is the GUID stays the same so when you load it back into the project, the project uses the name stored with the GUID, not your new name.

I was able to fix this by using RTV tools Shared Parameter Manager. I think the process involved duplicating the parameter list with new GUIDs. Then I ran the application on all of my families to switch out the old parameter with the new. This could be done manually by recreating your SP file from scratch and editing your family library, but who wants to do that?
