Can I create Duct Sytem with segments and Propper Flanges

    Hi there,

I am trying to create or find out if someone as has already, created a duct system, where one can have flanges and options of 1500 or 1200 lenths, with flanges. But flanges need be 5mm thick, with 1.5mm gasket, then next segment will have 1.5mm gasket and 5mm thick flange? all fittings should also have the same flange with gasket.
It will look like fabrication but drawn with revit mep families.
If it can be done could some one please explain how I do it. I am a ltd company that does Revit MEP coordination for Building Services. I have the norm MEP duct, but I would like to be able draw it as it should be without using the Fabrication parts

    Thanks

This would have to be a manual process using a custom made Union Family that represented a flange. Another option, which would be expensive, would be to look into the SysQue product line, which is a 3rd party package that adds a layer to Revit for fabrication-level models.

TZ, Thanks for your reply. I know of Sysq yes but I am trying to set my own up and not pay someone thousands when it is possible to do it yourself. I am not that far enhances on Revit when it comes to families and creating my own. I am an intermediate revit user, two times over but as I reached that further training I missed out on. Twice. So I am trying give it a go myself. Help would be appreciated tho.

    Thanks again

Possible to doyourself? Absolutely. But itll take a LONG time and a LOT of work to get halfway through what they have done with SysQue. Just a thought.

Hey twiceroad, I agree it might take long and I am not trying to copy sysq, all I want are for the fittings to show the gasket along with a flange and the straight to have flange and gasket, as it is with duct. take current fittings that has flange, modify these to have a gasket and move duct connector to suit. Then create straights with flanges on, and segments and this is where I am not sure on how to do it. I must admit, not looked deeply into sysq, my colleague has, are there parts revit families or are the similar to fabrication?

I've been using Support&Hanger (https://apps.autodesk.com/RVT/en/Det...andhanger%3aen) for some time now and think you might have some use for it.

Firstly, make all of your fitting families, including any geometry and data you will need for the flanges. Then set up your routing options for the duct system. Then you'll need to make a double flange union family as pouted out by Tannar. Once you've drawn the system you can 'Split' the straight ducts into preset lengths that can be changed in the add-in settings. The union fitting will have an instance created wherever there is a split. And you're done.

It's no SysQue, but it's free.

If you use this method, please let us know how you go. Good luck!
