What do you have now? First thing I would do is update my drivers - that frequently will fix the issue. Depending on how new the card is they may be releasing drivers once a month if not more frequently.

i want to buy laptop but i did not find it among recommended or certified on autodesk website
    i found similar names like
AMD Radeon HD 6450M (certified recommended graphic card on autodesk website for revit 2013)
and AMD Radeon™ HD 7670M Graphics (2GB dedicated memory) this what i found in store
so can i buy a second one and it solves to me problem of black screen (just afraid to make a risk ??)

Are you complaining about the prolonged black screen that appears when you hit the Render button, where the rendering doesn't start appearing for quite a while?

That's normal. It's part of the Final Render calculation component of the mental ray rendering process. It's busy calculating the FG sample points spraying from the camera into the scene and bouncing around to determine the color at each pixel. Once that's done the bucket rendering process starts.

Being that mental ray's implementation in Revit does not use the graphics card whatsoever, no graphics card will solve this "issue" - rendering in Revit is purely a CPU bound operation.

I'm just asking this for my own information since I know nothing about how mental ray works. But, when there's a background image used (not just the default Revit sky) it's starts rendering the background image at about 10%. The rest starts at the normal 50%. Why is that?

Assuming you are right why this is not the same case in revit 2012 or earlier versions ?

Hi Ahmed - It seems like Matt answered your question. That's just the way rendering in 2013 appears to work. It's not clear what the "problem" is? When it's at 100%, it's no longer black, correct?

If you don't want to wait a long time to see if a rendering is going to turn out well, I suggest testing it out with a very low "draft" setting and/or using the "Ray Trace" visual setting.

At any rate, it doesn't appear to be a graphics card (or computer hardware) issue.
