Looks like the lesson here is: use a 7700k.
I'm going to run this same system with a Quadro M4000. I'm not anticipating much difference.

    Update:

I reran the test on the same system with a Quadro M4000 card. Remarkably, every test was slightly improved EXCEPT the graphics benchmark. Also, it is registering the card as only having ~4GB of GDDR instead of 8, so I'll need to look into that.

If not mistaken is not the M4000 based off the GTX970 core but at a lower clock speed? I believe that was the case and the m5000 was the gtx980 and m6000/titan x. It has been a while so I am a bit rusty on that. If I am right the reason the GPU section was slower would likely just be the clock speed is lower on the M4000. Also, maybe revit read the RAM incorrectly because of the old geforce drivers still being installed?

I love using DDU (display driver uninstaller) any time a GPU swap from different families is made or when there could be a GPU related issue. It wipes the drivers CLEAN as if they were never installed. I dont think it works on Quadro drivers or Firepro/Radeon Pro but at least for normal Geforce and Radeon drivers it works perfectly.

    Smallaha,

I am interested in a bit more info on your system specs as you have the best scores of the thread I've seen so far. Not seeing the Mhz on your ram what speeds are you running and are you running the i7-7700k stock or overclocked at all? Any info would be appreciated we are getting ready to order the parts for and build 4 new machines in the next week or so based on the i7-7700k.

I too wish revit reported the actual speed. I have found many samples that have come through here to hit 5ghz BUT to really do it 24/7 they need to have the IHS removed to replace the thermal compound intel uses (known as delidding). I actually perform this service and have videos on it but you can also find a lot of information on it at youtube if you are curious. 15-24c temp drops are about what can be expected.

Since I only have a demo of Revit I cant get accurate scores on my 5ghz 7700k with revit 2017.

I try to run the benchmark on Revit 2017 (Student) and i get ''no response" every time i starts a new task. System is a Ryzen 1600,16GB 2933 DDR4 and Radeon R9 290X.
Is that normal or i need to set up something?

I scrubbed through all results posted here thus far and do not see anyone has tested resolution set higher than 2560x1440. All MS Surface hardware default resolutions are higher than this. I will dial down my display settings and try running RFO Benchmark2017 again but in mean time I thought I would post here to inquire to those that are familiar w/inner workings of this script if perhaps there might be a reason I can't get benchmark script to run to completion because of resolution size? I am trying to eliminate variables.

That sounds like it could be a possibility, good luck. I ran it once on my 4k monitor but I was on a trial version of 2017 so kept getting promts to accept the trial terms mid way. It did complete though but that is also a different variable. Hope you get it to work.

Hi. I,m interesting to buy an Amd Ryzen 1700x processor. it would be interesting to see here more RFO benchmarks with the processor - maybe with one overcklocked. The price/performance raport for that CPU is unbelievable not to mention that is also a killer render in 3dsmax closer to i7 6900k which is more expensive.

I picked up a 1600x to play with but have not yet run the revit benchmark on that system. Someone posted a 1700 3.9ghz result on this forum recently. I feel like Ryzen has potential but currently I personally wouldnt recommend it to a consumer workstation user. There are some bugs in the BIOS which cause some issues in reliability; mostly booting but they also come into play if you start overclocking.

I think the main thing is how often do you render? In every way the i7 7700k would be better for revit. One of my clients use Revit and 3dsmax and we have two of their architects on the 7700k and THEY LOVE IT!!! One of them came off of a dual xeon e5 2687w v4 too (24 core/48 thread system at 3ghz base clock, boost to 3.5ghz) and he is way happier on the 7700k especially in revit. He was also surprised by how much more pleasant 3ds max was to use. This person even does test renders in 3dsmax and has no issues on the 7700k (he just renders a portion of a wall for example rather than the whole image)

That dual xeon system is now their dedicated render machine like it was originally intended but was a workstation for about 8 months or so.

That said I love my 1600x system and I hope I will feel good recommending it for a workstation use once the BIOS becomes more stable. AMD I feel IS BACK but like most new platforms just has some teething.
