Video Ram for Revit MEP 2013

I am currently working with a model and the first project in 2013. I have noticed that while working in the model I am using close to 96% of the video ram of my 2GB Quadro 4000. I am monitoring through the GPU-Z program by TechPowerUP.

The current project is approximately 140MB MEP Model with 2 Architectural Models @ 90MB and 50MB, a Structural Model @ 40MB and a Kitchen Model at 35MB.

The workstation is a Xeon 3.07 GHz with 12gigs Ram and the 2GB Quadro 4000. We are starting to do upgrades to the office workstations and looking to see if we have to move up to 4 GIG Video Cards. I was under the impression Revit really didn't utilize Video cards and it was mostly processor and ram that slowed down the models.

Has other experienced any of these slow downs from video ram?

This is known, but hasn't been explained. It appears to happen no matter what size the model is... it will quickly show in GPU-Z that all the video ram is being used. I don't know why this is, but I'm not aware that it affects performance. Are you sure you've actually experienced slow downs because of this? 2GB should be PLENTY of video memory - you do not need to upgrade to 4GB (at least for Revit).

I have experienced slow downs. Typically it forces me to sync, restart Revit and re-open from the central file. This seems to improve performance for a while until the video ram spikes again. Are there any articles you could link me to stating this is a known problem?

There is something weird about MEP models. I just got a 660ti and works great on all of my models (some of them are 400mb in size). But I opened up our MEP folk's project file and it seems to screen stutter on me and its only a 46mb file. (Which is good, as they used to send me 1gb files)...
    Thought it was just me...
