Area and Longitudinal Reinforcement

Dear All,

I have faced two problems in revit.

1- When I model the longitudinal bars in a column (pretend 8 bars), in the rebar schedule the revit does not given them as a total and adds a row for each of them in the bar bending schedule. How can I group these 8 bars in the bar bending schedule. (one row with the quantity of 8)

2- The area reinforcement is not included in the rebar schedule. Is there a way to make revit include this or not? If not, any add-in or something else please (my revit is 2011).

Hi,
for point 1, you should use a parameter to identify them as part of this column (mark, comment, shared parameter...) and sort them with this parameter in the schedule properties.
for point 2, you should add a calculated value s.a. "estimated reinf. vol. / total length" to report the total area of vertical rebars (and only for them) for this column.

Ali,

What you need to do is go into the Formatting in your schedule then go to your quantity and make sure that "Calculate Totals" is checked. Also in Sorting/Grouping make sure "Itemize Every Instance" is unchecked.

I do not belive Area Reinforcement can be scheduled...thats why most just use the rebar tool rather than the Path/Area Reinforcement...

Maybe I misunderstood. Do you mean area reinf. - the tool in Revit; or the area of the reinf., meaning the total section of rebars in one section of an element?
My answer was about the second point. As Grant said, Area reinf.-the tool- is just a 2d trick for documentation.
