    'absolute' ies file

    Hey guys.

Recently I heard this idea called 'absolute ies files' that used in lighting fixture creations.

Anyone knows what that is, just curious.

The rough idea is that traditional ies file is a extension of txt but absolute ies is a new file format

    Thanks

Absolute IES files are the same txt format as traditional "relative" IES photometric files. The difference is the lamp/source lumen value which will be set at "-1" in the absolute file and usually can't be changed within the software environment. Relative data on the otherhand will have a different value depending on the lamp source and the way the file was compiled, and can be changed in software to allow the use of different lamp combinations.

Absolute data is mostly associated with LED sources.

    Hope that helps.
