    Nested Family parameter link lost

    Hi guys,

Am I going nuts here? This is the case:

I am trying to build a framing family. I have verticals (GM, Line Based), nested into another Generic Model, Line Based. Placed them, linked the length-parameter from the child into the parent. Then arrayed the vertical... Link gone. WTF? Am I really losing it or did this used to work?

    Could someone please verify this?

    Ok, problem solved (thanks Alf!!)
Seems like one cannot use Line Based Families for this purpose. Why use those? Well cause they're really fast in creating length-constrained lineair elements (no fudging with locking the ends).
But as soon as they get arrayed, there's no way you can control the length of the nested family. So ordinary Generic Models are the right way to go here.

Still feels like a bug though, maybe someone at the factory cares to do some in-depth explaining?

Martijn, you should look on the Adaptative component side.
I don't know the purpose of your family, but it worth looking.

Julien, intruiging proposition, what lead you to it?
I'm trying to create a custom framing family. Wanted to do this with nested framing elements.

I was thinking you would need an easy way to place it. AC is one. otherwise I misunderstood you goal.

Might be something I want to look into yes... First I'm going to dive into your thread about AC's...

Looks like youve already found the answer, but its never worked with Line Based. I *suspect* Line Based families originated from the Structural Framing families and Structural Columns (which also dont let you nest them and link parameters to stuff....) Freakin Stupid.
