Parameter Organization.... What Am I Missing?

Seriously!!! Autodesk needs to address this. Why can't we reorder the parameter!!!

You have seen this right? But yes, would be nice with some tiny up/down arrows or something to simply sort them as we like :beer:

Yeah I use that... but it only works for creating new parameters. I do a lot of playing with parameters when I start a family. I basically have to rebuild the whole thing once I have it working. Why can't they just put a simple + / - buttons on the type window.

Someone who is more eloquent with their speech make a wish list post about it. PLEASE!!!

I use the same method as you and have encountered the same issue. I build my family, mess it up, get it to finally work and when I want to organize my parameters, its rebuild or stop whining oh well...

there is also an aditional method posted in tips and tricks section that maybe is helpfull when starting new families (not for the sharing parameters..indeed). Anyway that time when i`ve posted, nobody returned feedback so i don`t know if is it was helpfull or not

Gaby - It was a nice post you made back then, but truthfully, I think that most have given up on sorting the parameters... It´s just not worth the time and labor involved. :blah:

ah...so somebody test it well maybe this people here that have time to redo the families just to reorders parameters are interested enough lol. I recognise i don`t use it eather. Instead i still use Scot method for every new parameter in the developing procces of the family. So i can control the order if i`m very carefull

Yep - and then down the track you work out some need to be shared parameters..end of your order
Instead I just spend lots of time making sure the parameters are named in a certain way so relevant ones stay together

but i usually can`t imagine all the parameters in the first place. The shared parameters are a problem for all the workarounds.

I really stopped bothering about this. It's giving me too much grief and a lousy ROI. My rule of thumb:
if it's in "Other", don't touch it. Anything else: look around... when I create a really really complicated family for third party users, I'll put in a url and host a tutorial on a hidden page on my website.
