    Multiple Voids in family

Hey building a crown molding for a kitchen and it needs to be a U shape and parametric ( i tried using a sweep first and it worked fine, but the problem is since i'm using a wood material, I cant control the direction of the grain. I need to create 3 parts and link in on a 45 where it joins, Ive used the void feature for the two outside piece, but when i join the middle piece and add the void, it also cuts the 2 other pieces, is there any way to tell the void to only cut the front piece and not the two sides

    thanks.

I've found that to be the best approach for voids in families. Much more control over what is cut and the constraints on the void.
