    Calculating areas

Is there a way I could calculate an area in Revit by defining its boundary with lines etc.? for those who know autocad, Im referring to the area command.

    Thanks

Create an area plan perhaps? You can find this under plan views on the ribbon. You will need to draw the lines manually if you have no walls to associate to.

There are two ways you can do this...one as Darryl said by creating an area plan, and the other for just quick calculations just draw a filled region.

A third option, if you are looking for finer grain information, is to create a room. (Home Tab - Area and Rooms) Once created the area is displayed in the properties of the room.

Property lines work as well for plan areas - for temporary/one-off stuff. If the area needs to be tracked in any way, an area plan is the way to go.
