Title Block Question

Is it possible to have different configurations in the same titleblock family?
18 x 24
24 x 36
36 x 48
etc

The issue I'm having is when its time tu put the labels, i cant find a way to constrain them so that when the title block changes sizes, they don't jump off the page.

How do others go about it?

Currently I have three titleblock families one for each size but I was trying to see if there is a way to do this all in one.

You can constrain the Labels by putting them in a detail group and constraining the group..... But for this instance, we dont. We keep seperate titleblock families for the sizes.

The advantages of them being all in one family are: If something needs to change in all of those titleblocks, you only need to change one family. Downsides are its more complicated to build... Particularly when you take in to account that they have different sets of "Detail box lines." Youll need seperate visibility parameters, etc. Other downsides are that if the project teams do anything to make them project specific (project logos, consultant names and information) those things have to get constrained too.

Advantages of them being seperate? Way easier to build, way less complex. Downsides? If the firm updates their logo, i have to open fifteen miles (we have a lot of titleblocks) to manage. i dont mind this since it happens very rarely.

Its the same (besides the constraints) for tyhe end user. Its the type selector either way.

Juan, I´m doing them as one family - And If you change the titleblock and the units, you might be able to use it :beer:

We do it the same way as Aaron, however we nest the logo and company address in as a seperate family. That way its easier to update if there's a change.

Presumably you make the logo and company name scalable due to sheet size differentials from A0 to A3.

We find when scaling logo’s it always throws the error “line to small” etc.

Another point we have both both Mid East and Far East clients is there a Arabic or Chinese type set for RAC 2011

psteel- There is. You need to have a True Type Font set up in your Windows fonts directory, and then you can make a Revit font style based on it. it will show correctly in paper space, it just wont show correctly in Schedules where a System front is used for display. Also (obviously) youll need the Language packs installed on your machines.
