Senior moment or just not there?

I have a project with multiple buildings, so I've broken it up into a rvt file for each building (there are 4) and a project file that links them all into a topo.

I want to take an elevation and plan view from one of the bldgs & place them on a sheet in another bldg. Actual views don't show up when trying to "insert from file", and I don't want to try to export a jpg (for example) to paste on the other sheet.

Am I missing something - I thought I had done this before?

You need to have the building with the view in question linked in, then create a duplicate view of the view you want to copy and then set it in VG to display the view in the linked file. Then all graphic overides, tags etc, will show up in your linked model.

It is not possible to simply load a view from another file, unless its a schedule or drafting view. Model views don't work that way.

This doesn't seem to copy/show the elevation tags or section tags though.
We split our model into a shell model and an interior model. Two separate firms worked on the two different files. So the exterior elevations were done by one firm and that firm was responsible for the exterior sheets. The other firm was responsible for the floor plan sheets. I now what to show the view tags in the model that controls the floor plan (the interior model), but the elevation views were created in the shell model.
There doesn't seem to be a way to do this...

Nope, its not meant to work that way. The logic makes sense, too. You could have elevations named and on the same sheets in both files. What would the view references show?
