callout issue

perhaps i missed something simple, how to control callout settings like detail level, underlay, etc.?
at first, i thought it will automatically inherit from host view, seems not quite a case.

looks like you can only specify view scale when creating callout, detail level is always coarse, recently in one project, everytime when i create callout (enlarged plan view) from host plan view (medium, no underlay), not only this callout view is coarse, but also have underlay of same level! and i have no idea how it happens?

I believe callouts always inherit setting from parent view.
The option is a section. Because you cannot draw the horizontally from start, draw it vertically, and then rotate it.
It will show up like a callout in plans and it is independent.

callout from section view seems OK, but not from plan view, i just draw callout from plan view which is medium & no underlay, but enlarged view is coarse & have overlay.

Forget the callouts.
Try creating a NEW section.

It's not an issue. It's a logical condition.
A callout inherits some settings from the parent view.

And I confess that I still don´t find what troubles you.
I repeat: have you tried creating a independent section and rotate it to be horizontal?

well, my issue is very simple: overall apartment plan view, unit layout by simply using callout, that's it.

maybe i misunderstood you, i do remember that draw-section-in-elevation-and-rotate-to-horizontal approach before, but isn't it for more complicated issue even though i forgot for which kind of issue? besides, where should i draw that independent section?

There are a number of ways to control this:
1. Callouts (like other views) will inherit their settings from the Default View Template for that type of view:Change your callouts view properties to how you want it to look, right click on the view in your Project Browser and select "Create View Template from view". Once you have done this,right click on the view again and select "Apply View Template". This will give you a tickbox to make this view template apply to all new views of the same type (refer image) (there may be an easier way to do it.....but I'm in the habit of doing it that way!)

2. Now you understand "View Templates" - use them extensively, so you could create one called "Apartment 1:50 Plans" and apply to all relevant views
3.When you select the View/Callout tool, you have an option to specify the scale (refer image)

4. Under Manage/Additional Settings/ Detail Level you can tell Revit what detail level to default to what scale when it creates new view (refer image)
