    Speaking of Revisions...

I've yet to have to do a revision on a Revit project but was playing around with the revision cloud tool after reading the other Revision cloud thread. No problem with the clouds but when I try to create an instance of the Revision tag I get the following error:

Can't create this kind of element in this view in the current mode.

doesn't matter what view I'm in and trying it on a sheet doesn't work either. What "mode" do I need to be in to place a Revision tag?
I'm retired, if you don't like it, go around!

Could you post a screen shot?

of what? Put a revision cloud on a plan view, or an elevation view, or a section view. Then go to Families/Annotation Symbols/Revision tag and create and instance. Can you place it in any of those views? I can't

THis explanation is better, a little more detail, I was trying to replicate what you did but had no luck, so now I see that we are using different methods
I think you have to use the
Annotate Tab > tag by category to add a tag to the revision cloud

EDIT: I think its because if you create an instance from the project browser, the revision tag is not associated to anything therefore it has no function or reason for existing. There may be another explanation as to "why" but at least I think this solves the how

 that's the ticket! I wonder why they even have "create an instance" in the right click context menu for Revision tag?

So you can use the symbol on legends. I think of it as a dummy symbol if its placed with the create instance.
