    2D Element into 3D Family

Hi guys quick question, how do I bring a 2D element into a 3D family anf extrude it and turn it into a 3D object? I keep getting an error message when I try 2 load it or copy it into my family drawing.

First rule in solving errors: Read and Understand the error.. I have a wild guess about the error appearing but what is the exact error reported?

Hi its telling me I cant copy 2D elements into a 3D drawing, so I brought it in as a detail component and then picked the lines I wanted to have extruded, is this the correct way to go about this?

Yup, you can't copy detail lines around

Well, that's just about it. Extrusions require a sketched profile upon entering the command. Sweep could be good for you in this situation. Once you have a detail component which pretty much looks like your intended profile, you can use Copy to Clipboard from the Detail Component family to a Profile family. Then you can use that Profile for your Sweep Tool.
