    Plan region help

    Hello world,

I am having some issues with a plan region in revit 2017. I have concrete floor with a small slope that is showing up when I place a plan region. The borders of the region does not cross the any of the sketch lines of the slab nor does the slab land with in the view range of the plan region, yet is shows up. I can adjust both the borders of the plan region and the view range to avoid it but then other elements that I do need to show up won't, mainly the walls that run the perimeter of the 2nd slab and its beams that I am trying to make visual. I would prefer not to hide the lower slab using the "Hide in view" option because I may need to temporarily see it in the future while working on this level, and the reveal hidden objects tool shows too much sometimes. I've attached some screen shots from the project showing the settings and the extents of the troublesome slab. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I think you have found one of Revit's odd functionalities: "To prevent the floor or slab from being visible in plan view, you need to adjust the bottom clip so that it is more than 4 feet above the floor or slab and set the view depth so that it does not include any part of the floor or slab."

You set the view range so that it cuts above a floor or slab in a plan view, but the floor or slab was still visible. A floor or slab will be visible in a plan view if it is partially above the view depth, or if it is within 4 feet (approximately 1.21 meters) of the bottom clip

      Anthony,

Thank you for the quick reply based on that I guess I have no other option then but to use the hide in view option since I don't think the architect is going to allow me to raise the slab I am trying to show or lower the one that I am trying to hide. Seems odd that floors or slabs get to ignore the rules of the view range. Guess I have a couple of ideas to add to the wishlist.

        Can't turn the category off?
Can't hide the floor with a view filter?
Much better than Hide In View.

Unfortunately I cant turn the category off but didn't think about a filter, that's a tool that I don't use often enough that it didn't occur to me to try. Thank you for the suggestion.

It took me quite a while to figure out and be comfortable with view filters but now I am a fan. You've just got to name them sensibly and be sure the team knows what has been done.
