    Stringer Position

Man, 2 posts in one day. I must be slacking.

Okay, closed stringers. I need them to be wide flange and be offset towards the center of the stairs. Is the old "make the stringer out of a rail" still the only workaround? FYI, I know the carriage (open) type has an offset option, but I can't set a profile to it so it's useless.

I'm not sure if it would cause any other problems, but can you make a custom profile for the closed stringer with the offset built in? You might need separate profiles for the right and left sides.
Open stringers tend to have some issues turning corners too I've noticed.

Didn't think of that. It's worth a try. Thanks Chris.

nevermind. It didn't work. Offsets in the profile have no effect on the stringer position.

Just use Structural Framing Families. Easier.

Dan, take a look here - it's time consuming but...

Structural families it is. Wasn't too hard. Had more trouble cleaning up the joins (2 weren't cooperating) than creating the stringers. It's all good now. Thanks guys.

Hey, you need to change your avatar. You have no one to aim at any longer. Haven't heard from Alex in months
