    Custom Curtain Panels

Okay, this goes along with my previous post and questions about Generic objects and in-place voids..........only now it is about in-place voids and Curtain Wall Panels. Here is a little ......I'm doing a VDC Shop dwg, Estimate and fabrication extraction model for a Project under construction in Raleigh, for a Custom Exterior Wall Fabrication co. The Main exterior is a Terra Cotta Tile mounted on custom Alum extruded brackets, etc. I decided for rapid modeling and control to use CW's, which has allowed really great manipulation capabilites (pretty obvious). And since the Tile Panels themselves are built from the Curtain Panel Template, it stands to reason (at least to me) that, again really being Mass objects, that once in a project since it is a CW, that Custom in-place voids could be used to 'punch' various holes in the CP's for Lights, Vents, Scuppers, etc at avarious points in the Facades. So the question again I ask is....Cannot one add such in-place objects? Or have I totally created a thought process in the wrong direction? See attached for small example.:banghead:

There´s two options that I can think of:

    1.
Make a custom CW panel, with parametic voids in it. (Parameters for size and location, and maybe even shape)

    2.
Swap the current CW panel with a regular wall type (set that wall type to match your panels) and create an in-place mass to cut the regular wall.
(In the attached I assigned a standard brick wall as one of the panels)

Thanks Munkholm, That was my 1st thought. Is it because the panel was created from a Sweep with the profile of the Tiles that's causing it? Or is this inherent of the family? I can't seem to determine which. I'll have to create the custom cwp as a section will be cut thru the model, and since we are limited to 'profiles' per se in walls, that option is not available...I'll work it out and post back. Here's another shot of the error message that was produced. I'll be in touch.

      Thanks again,

      Mike

Okay.that works for me.......load custom CWP into project, swap out with panel and GO! COOL BEANS!
