    Colour Shemes and Phasing

    Hey there,

I have been presented with a situation that I am sure I had worked out before, but cant find my solution / workflow.
We use a solid, light grey surface pattern for all of our existing elements to easily distinguish between new and existing. This is set though the "Manage Tab" "Phases" so it is a global setting for the file. We then use colour schemes for our areas to indicate tenancy types etc.

I was asked the other day, why a colour fill will not show over the existing element surface pattern. I though it did, but it doesn't seem to. I know there is an instance toggle in the view setting to show the fill in Foreground or background, but this doesn't seem to do anything. Its as if the existing element is overriding the colour scheme. Is this correct?

    I guess I'm a bit confused for 2 reasons:
    1) I'm sure I have had this working previously
    2) This is in out template set up, so why is this the first I am hearing of it

Anyway, is this "normal" Revit behaviour or is this something odd?
