Object styles or VVG(View Visibility and Graphics) dialog takes a long time to open

Have any of you experienced a significant slow down in the time it takes to access these dialog boxes? This is 2016. And if so did you find the solution?

Not here. Up through 2016 R2 UR7 and 2017.2, everything feels completely normal.

No. The only time I ever experienced this was when we had a project get corrupt through loading mfr content (see thread below), but that was a long time ago and Autodesk removed that feature.

Maybe check through your subcategories to see if anything is going haywire.
Is it isolated to one project or one machine? Sometimes I have found weird stuff like this isolated to corrupt windows user profiles after windows updates...

There are definately some funky things happening with this project, we are getting numerous parameters copied, ie a dozen "project zone" parameters, or "color name". And I'm seeing a ton of "imports in families" categories, not happy about this, I guess I've got to do some detective work and see whats getting loaded into our files. We did have someone from our dallas office putting in medical equipment, I'm concerned that maybe that content wasn't ours. Thanks for the help.

We've had duplicate parameters occur, always associated with materials. I haven't been able to identify the cause, but suspect it has to do with Revit duplicating project parameters when materials are duplicated.

The parameters duplicating was a known issue from a year or two ago. Essentially when someone brought something in from another file, it was transferring in the Project Parameter with a new GUID, instead of using the one that was in the file.

Imports in Families definitely doesnt sound good, but its not causing the Parameter thing. They are different issues.

Understood, the parameter thing has plagued this project since close to day one. But the slow down in the Object styles is more recent and I'm seeing a lot of cad layer names in imports in families. I've saved as all the families out of the project into a folder and will go thru the ones that look unfamiliar. Thanks for all the help.
