Stair hosted railing edit sketch issue

    Hi All,

I am looking to create a railing for a multistorey stair only for the inner part of the staircase. To get two separate - inner and outer - railings I added a small section of stair upwards from the highest landing (marked with a red circle on the sketch). Now, when I place a railing on the stair I will have two separate railings - inner and outer - and I can delete the outer (deleted on the sketch) and (I thought) I can delete the added railing and section of stair (in the red circle) without affecting the railing but I cannot. When trying to delete the small line of railing (selected on the sketch) it gives an error "The Railing line must be a single connected Sketch...". When deleting the section of stair the railing disappears.

This must be pretty basic. What am I doing wrong? Is there a better way to achieve what I am trying to achieve?

    Kind regards,

They have to be a continuous sketch, no breaks. Railings can get finicky too btw, as somehow they get discontinuous but they look totally connected and you have to start all over.

I use the multi-story option only when they are the same all the way, else it is level to level. Oh, just to make things easier I always work in 3D when creating them so I can isolate just the stairs and railings and not worry about walls and such. Just remember to set your workplane levels as you go.
