controlling model component view range

I have modelled up a facade cladding/fin component that stretches 8 floors. The problem I'm having is that I can see parts of the component that are on the 2nd flr etc. Is there any way of limiting / controling the amount of component I can see?

What category did you model the cladding/fin in? Probably one of the non cut-able (like specialty equipment)... Try changing it to a cut-able category (like generic)

And is it an in-place or a loadable family? Could also be your setting in the Element Visibility Settings...

Could you post the family/project? Did you use a Curtain Wall or another category? Was it In Place or Loadable?

Have a look at Jason's post on his blog. It isn't an answer but it will give you insight into how choosing categories affects display. I believe your use of panels in this case is related though. Also I believe only family view range settings in Windows and Doors affect View Range directly in the project setting (meaning the family setting is acknowledged by the Revit project file), I might be forgetting another but if there is it's probably the generic model category. Bottom line, very few provide family specific control of view range apart from the project behavior.

Thank you for feed back guys. Because I modelled the component (in-place) as a wall type its not going to let me control the view cut range. Next time I must remember to model as generic. Will use masking regions to patch it up this time.
