sheets and revision

I need advices from gurus here. It deals with sheets and revision.
FYI ,I used to put revision by project.
I create sheets, 1,2,3 etc... and after that I have to input the actual revision to each of them, because multi selection in the project browser doesn't work.

Am I missing something? Why can't I multi select sheets to put the first revision?

Is it because the revisions themselves are not linked to the sheets but to the revision clouds?
I think revit assumes that if there is no revision cloud on a sheet then there has been no revision on the sheet
I think that revision by project is for the numbering of the revisions across all the sheets at once ( gives the same revision number to all the revisions regardless of the sheet they are in) based on the revision you specify for any particular cloud.
Revision by sheet just tracks the sheets independently therefore revision 1 on sheet 1 may be different than revision 1 on sheet 2

Julien, this is a new *feature* in Revit 2011 - Or at least it is to some, on my two computers it´s working as it should (and did in Revit 2010), but have heard many complaints of this new "feature" in 2011.

A few tips that might help: 1. Collapse the sheets, so the views are not showing up below - 2. Use shift to select more than two sheets....

Hopefully this *feature* is not part of Revit 2012

This is because you have to actually place a revision cloud on each sheet. I don't use these anymore. Created my own Shared Parameters for Revision in my Titleblock. These are type parameters so they will change for every sheet. I only use Revision Clouds if needed for clarification.

I will assume your Project Browser and Properties palette are on your second monitor. Drag them back into the Revit window and dock them, then your multiple select should work. It did for me.

I believe the OP is talking about the *revisions on sheet* option, which fills in the Revision Schedule regardless of revision clouds. We dont use the feature at all, because of the lack of multi-select and change capability. We place a revision cloud in the titleblock, copy, paste-aligned-to-selected-sheets, go in to revisions, and turn off the cloud visibility. Its faster, and easier to update later.

You do not have to have a cloud on the sheet to Revise a drwaing, If you select one sheet in the browser, you have the option of "Revisions on sheet" in the properties dialog

If you select more than one sheet, you loose this dialog. I dont see why we cannot select mulitple sheets in the project browser and revise this way. I have asked Autodesk, and they agreed it was something to look into

However, there is a workaround, you can copy and paste revision clouds across sheets. So if you dont need to see clouds on the sheet, simply add a cloud somewhere on the sheet, copy to clipboard, and paste aligned to selected views, you can then choose a selection of sheets

Since you didnt want clouds on the sheet, go back to the revisions dialog and turn off the clouds for that sequence

Works fine for early issues, when you dont want clouds on the drawing

Just before christmas we released a free tool for Revit 2014 so you can use the build in "Revisions on Sheet" parameter and apply the Revisions to many sheets simultaneously in just a few seconds. This way you don't have to "mis-use" the clouds - as I used to do exactly the same thing.

It doesn't currently allow you to bulk remove "Revisions on Sheet", but I wouldn't expect removing Revisions should be a common practice or happen very often...?

Sadly, removing revisions (in the US) anyway, happens all of the time. Especially since the "Revisions" get used to show pre-100% releases....

Has anyone found an add-on to do this? Delete revisions. We had revisions to the bid set and now want to issue a construction set and start the revisions cycle a new? Either just get the old revisions to not show on the title block or delete them ? I really do not want to go through the 100's of sheets and delete clouds.

I've tried Rockit, but doesn't seem to work as advertised.
